November SLO ASA Public Meeting

Our monthly ASA meeting is coming up:

Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 pm
Petra Mediterranean Pizza and Grill
1210 Higuera St. (corner Higuera and Toro Sts.)
San Luis Obispo, CA

We meet in the downstairs room, so best access is the downstairs door on the Toro St. side. There is a short ramp in front of the door for handicap access.

Agenda items include:
  • Last Thursday's approval by the SLO Planning Commission of a collective club facility located in Oceano!!  (Still waiting to see if this is appealed to the Board of Supervisors.  In the meantime, the Planning Commission's action -- and our cause -- got a SOLID EDITORIAL ENDORSEMENT in the Tribune both last Thursday & Friday!!!   Awesome!)
  • Federal lawsuits filed by ASA (& NORML) relating to crackdowns on mmj, esp here in California.
  • Our chapter status
Here's the pitch, folks:

We are having a positive impact here in SLO County . . . but we need your help!  We need, literally, just a handful of you who have never become a paid ASA member or who have not renewed membership in over a year to contribute ($35 or more).  Our chapter records show only 4 people who have made this contribution in 2011.  We need at least 10 paid memberships to be a legitimate ASA chapter.  As current Treasurer, I'm holding these recent payments in the bank until we reach a total of 10 to send to ASA National.  I myself am ready to renew, as is Rich, but we need at least 4 more of you in order to reach this minimum of 10.  Can you help??  If you can't make it to our meeting, feel free to email me at asaprop215@gmail.com

Thank you.   ~~Linda

We hope to see you at Petra on Tuesday!

SLOASA Action Alert!

As you may know, Tammy Murray of Compassionate Cannabis Information Center (CCIC) is applying to the County to open a medical marijuana storefront dispensary at 1409 So. 4th Street in Oceano.

The SLO County Planning Commission is set to consider her application THIS THURSDAY, NOV. 3rd, in the Supervisors Chambers of the County Government Center, corner of Santa Rosa and Monterey Streets in SLO..  The meeting is set to begin at 9:00 am.

WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR ACTIVE SUPPORT OF THIS APPLICATION.

To that end, Ms. Murray is sponsoring an evening of Medical Cannabis Activism Training and ASA Membership Drive.  It is taking place THIS WEDNESDAY, NOV. 2, beginning at 5:00 pm, at the proposed storefront location: 1409 So. 4th St., Oceano.

Please try to attend these important meetings.  Previous dispensary applicants have been met with vociferous opposition, making it easy for the government agencies to deny them.  It is imperative that we supporters make our presence known and our voices heard; and our SLO ASA chapter has been central in raising this visibility.  However, we need both new and renewing paid members to maintain our chapter viability.

Again, please join us informally Wednesday evening, to enjoy a complimentary bowl of chili while going over talking points to present to County officials (hand-out information will be provided to you).  If you join or renew your paid ASA membership, Tammy is also offering her “Freedom Fighter” T-shirt, which promotes the proposed Oceano location:  we want to see many of these shirts on attendees at the Planning Commission meeting this Thursday.

Thanks for your support.  For more info, contact Linda at asaprop215@gmail.com, or call her at 805-528-0808.
